Default Crew Scheduling Today

Seems to me, crew scheduling is doing more to "burn cash" than any other department right now. For example: Today, DH SEA-SFO. 30 hour layover. Tomorrow, DH SFO-EWR. 25 hour layover. Sunday, Operate EWR-SEA with entire crew that that operated the flight to EWR deadheading.

My rotation last week was much of the same. And the pairings were planned this way on day 1 of my reserve block! Not a rolling cancellation thing that changed last minute. WTF is going on with CS??

Well to be honest the moneys already been burned regardless of what they do this month besides the guys who look the unpaid last minute April leave. All line holders are pay protected, and if reserve you are getting 79 hours.

Next month is when we will see their attempt at reducing pilot costs.

Well to be completely honest deadheading crew around for no reason actually burns money, leaving them at home cost no more than their original line.

Ya I agree but it’s got to be so marginal in the scheme of things. April is a wash the losses are going to be big, I think next month the rabbits will start coming out of the hats.

Maybe they're dragging crew around to see who comes down with COVID19?

I think we have a winning answer! RSV are paid 79 hours and no way are you guys making over that this month so you're costing them per diem while they negotiate millions in grants and loans

Ask the contract shuttle drivers how many no shows they have been dealing with recently. My unofficial poll shows about 1/10 show/no show for crews. Are these contracted monthly and therefor already paid for, or are they wasting cash every time?

How about hotel rooms? Monthly blocks or pay per stay?

Per diem is for sure a cost, but I wonder about the rest. Regardless, it's a waste of our time to do this and an unnecessary risk.

Edit: Oops realized this isn't even a thread for my company. So it's all of us!
