Taxes

WA side no income tax as mentioned. OR side 9%. Over the course of a 30yr career = Nice House signed over to OR state. WA keeps trying to institute an income tax. If they are successful in the future...... They will say "Where did all the net tax payers go?" Just like is now happening in CA.

Well except for the fact that people are running out of places to go that don’t charge a state income tax.

True, but there are still places which are halfway decent stewards of your tax money.

White Salmon/Hood River are amazing. I have a family member that lives there. '

However the prices for real estate have gone up substantially and its not exactly the affordable hidden gem that it used to be.

I agree that is a really great place to live. I currently live there and it’s an awesome community. One of the best veterinarians in all of Portland. I took my dog there last year for gender transition surgery and they did an amazing job!

I’m very happy in Lake Oswego. It’s pricey and the taxes hurt, but QOL is high. Schools are at or near the top of the heap, I have been extremely impressed with how much they have their stuff together.
