JS checked bag allowance

Gonna try to bring some fish home on Alaska soon. What is the advice on maximizing the load? How many bags can i checked for free? I assume each checked bag has to be <50lbs. Can i load up on my travelpro as carry-on luggage? Thanks!

2 checked bags/fish boxes are free. Most of the agents in ANC are pretty cool and will usually extend a little professional courtesy to jumpseaters if you have 1 more or so, but not all of them. And yes, 50lb limit
