I'd stay clear of Multnomah County. Lots of taxes. Lake O or Oregon City are probably a good bet but looking in the hinter land near St Paul or Aurora might be good too.

Some other cool neighborhoods to look at: Arnada, Shumway, Hough, Carter Park, Lincoln Heights. Cool old neighborhoods from the old days. Big trees, cool houses from the 30’s. Walkable to Uptown Village and close to downtown Vancouver. 20 minutes from employee parking with 2 options. I5 or the 205.

Living in OR isn't as bad as many indicate. WA also has many additional taxes that OR doesn't have (on your boat, RV, plane, higher auto registration etc.). I would highly suggest Wilsonville, Lake Oswego, West Linn, Sherwood, etc. They are great towns with great schools. Oregon City is a good town, but poor school ratings. Vancouver and Battle Ground school districts aren't very good either. Just do your research and decide what is best for your family. We live south of PDX about 35min and have no regrets.

Registering toys in WA is still a lot cheaper that $30K+/year in OR state tax. But if you gotta live in that cool neighborhood that bad......

The PDX-SEA commute can be a pain. I live in Ridgefield, WA (where I-5 and 205 split/meet.) It’s roughly a hair over 2 hours to drive to the SeaTac parking lot. If you hit the bad times, it can take three hours. Not a horrible drive. It’s nice to have the option to drive or fly. IF things work perfectly, flying saves me roughly 20 minutes, by the time you go to the airport, ride the employee shuttle, list and wait for your jumpseat…. But you might catch a nap… However, the thought does cross your mind on go home day ‘I just missed my first flight. If I drove, I’d be home by now.’

Keep in mind, there are a TON of commuters between the two cities! Feel free to reach out if I can help answer any questions about the area or drive. (Former Horizon, now Delta.)

Where does everyone live in Oregon to drive to PDX? Not looking to live right next to the city (for obvious reasons) but probably a little bit more out into the suburbs. Don't mind an hour drive. Also have 3 little ones with one on the way so yes schools are important. As always thank you.

everyone lives in the pearl district and invests in black facemasks, black hoodies and window repair companies. If you like self righteousness and cluelessness, you’ll love it. Anarchy is sooo charming. But at least it’s expensive

I lived in WA for 25+ years and I've been hearing that since the early 90's

Vote for Bob Ferguson as Inslees replacement and you will finally see it.

Say what you like about OR vs WA, but at least Oregon as of late has one less bit of truly infuriating ridiculousness to deal with. Hell has frozen over and you can finally pump your own gas.

So, NJ left by their lonesome?
