I think you're OK. SWA isn't so hot right now, that plus commuting means you're probably better off for a good while. Long term, who knows

Did they kick you guys off alyeska or are you just trying to make sure that no one, except your mothers, likes you across the whole Internet. Seriously, UA is practically hiring street captains, put your money where your oversized mouths are and show us how it's done. Report back in a year so we can all tell you how smart you truly are. Maybe then you can quit bloviating and leave the rest of us in peace.

Your gonna be just fine.

LAX 🤔 Yup, it’s super junior 😂

This is all the same tired garbage by the same tired group. Nothing will ever make this group happy. They envy everyone, and hope by discouraging everyone from coming here, finally they will force the company into paying them Delta plus 10%. They think this will finally make them the envy of the industry, everyone will wish they were them, that this realization will finally bring them happiness.

I here most of this group is divorced, go figure 🤔😉

For those not here, everyone is hiring, pick the right place for you. I think everyone will turn out fine, some just can’t ever be happy, they are miserable, they want you to be more miserable then them. Let’s see how this plays out this fall, I am confident it’s gonna be just fine.

If you are that upset, so yourself a favor and bail out. Lots of options and fast seniority movement right now, so again….why?

Freq. trust me, if I was a 20-something, a 30-something or even a 40-something, I would definitely take your advice. At my age and seniority, a change like that isn’t in the cards. That is why I started this thread, a friendly recommendation to the new generation of pilots to do a little more Due Diligence before committing precious time to a second tier contract. That is all. Don’t leave $ and QOL on the table.

You’ll probably get a quicker upgrade at Alaska but when SWA gets their new contract, chances are, it will have better pay per seat and longevity and better work rules. Did you make a good decision? Depends on your situation. If you did good Due Diligence and are ok working for a discount 🤣, you should be fine.

If this management group cannot change their behavior and stop treating the pilots poorly, they may be putting all of our careers at risk. Then again it doesn't seem like things are much better at SWA at the moment. If SWA can pivot to stop treating pilots poorly they may be able to take even more of the AS market share. Only time will tell if you have made a big mistake or not.

As it stands, working for Alaska will cost you Hundreds of Thousands, if not Millions of Dollars, when compared to a career at Delta, United, American or even Southwest (when they get their new contract). I really don’t understand why folks defend our subpar Contract. More $ for the same work and better work rules mean more time at home and earlier retirement. Prospective Pilots deserve the facts…not Company/Union spin.

I fly with new folks all the time, I’m not seeing nor hearing this. Most guys I fly with are not only happy to be here, they wanna stay too. As for the contract it’s a beaten horse, (I’m not gonna get into number specifics again as it ticks off the angry APC crowd), suffice to say I am able to use every aspect of it to make a schedule and pay that directly benefits myself, family, and my wallet.

Humblebrag in 3 posts. What was the over/under today?

At sun Country we have the highest premium pay system in the airline world. This month alone for captains it was at 300% for 3 days, 200% for 2 days, only 150% for 3 days and 250% for 23 days. We can’t get FO’s to upgrade. They want to sit in the right seat keep their QOL high and are plenty happy making the living they are. FO’s had 14 days at 250% and 4 days at 200%. So the premium opportunities to happen even in the right seat but not as often and not at the captain rate. Plenty of FO’s making 200k+ and content. I see the younger generation is much more content with that. I think the attrition here lies with only having one base and the schedule flexibility. We have been running at red line since Covid. Guys are getting burnt out. We have had a couple come from Alaska and a few leave for Alaska. It’s all been about commuting Vs not commuting.

ShyGuy 07-25-2023 08:33 PM

Who needs 200% or 300% when guys are tripping over each other just to pickup regular open time at straight pay. 150% is gone faster than a speeding bullet.
