Well I guess I'd rather they spend the money on this than on buybacks.

The thing is they aren't spending money on this, they're just using the first class seats that Hawaiian had on the plane, saying it's Alaskan now and marketing it as new. The food looks good though.

The food does look good... but they are using the Alaska domestic meal product on Hawaii flights on the 787. So no more economy meals. I won't miss the mystery sandwich, but it was one thing that differentiated the Hawaiian product.

I don’t think the article was saying that I think it was saying the amenity kits in such is what they now have

As for Ben, he’s definitely trying to be interesting to see if he does the Brad approach and tuck tail and shrinks to Seattle during this potential downturn or if Ben’s gonna pony up and try to grow in a downturn. So far, Ben’s been much more aggressive. Hopefully they don’t tuck tail in a downturn.

Not too much of a surprise there, as they're Alaska branded flights. I'm interested to see if those things survive much longer on the Hawaiian side. It's a differentiator, but one we've cheaper out on for years. If they're going to stick with it I hope they improve the food, more like how United does it from Hawaii to mainland.

Hawaii on the Alaska side has its own menu subset tends to be a little more “premium” than the trans cons

Fact is: if AS wants to succeed on international routes they must up their game, especially on the food side! International carriers, in general, are leaps and bounds ahead of US airlines in that department alone but also cleanliness of the aircraft.
