Delta is worrisome but even in my deep blue neighborhood everything is packed with few masks in sight.
Looks like people may not fall for it this time, unless their friends and family actually start dying. Covid has precious little to do with the fact that management makes big talk about hiring and it’s generally about 1/2 of what they say. This is important for anyone considering applying. If you’re not in the very first few classes hired this round you’ll be on reserve. I’ve spoken with captains that were on reserve for 6 years as an FO. With our work rules that sounds like a very difficult existence… Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Sorry wannabes,
We just got a company email demanding we state our Covid Vax status. BTW for all you unhopefuls that's illegal but that's the kinda **** that you're gonna be dealing with here. They count on the stupid to respond before the law suit gets filed. So just like the good professors in college used to say, "everything is political" it's now been updated to "everything's covid". One more thing to add to your resumes... Card carrying covid vaccine recipient. If you're lucky during the interview they will give you a special emblem to put on your lanyard indicating that you have been vaxxed. That's what they are doing for employees. Good luck or should I say bad luck? If I were you I'd be hoping for the latter but that's like having a crystal ball. |

If they asked your doctor to provide your medical records and the doctor did it without your consent, THAT would be illegal.
Asking you for your vaccination status is not that though. I was hoping someone would clarify how the company was trying to circumvent this, so just to recap, it's not illegal to ask, it's not illegal to tell but you do NOT have to answer the question. I choose: I decline to answer. But then I don't get my armband, does this mean the AS stormtroopers will come knocking and pull up my floorboards? I guess only Max Tidwell knows. What freedoms shall we give up next? |

Got a call that one of my FAs had Covid for a turn I did out of SEA. What do you expect the company to do? Do you think a fair response would be that they should reach out to the other working crew members and inform them? And once called, what should they do? Remove them from their trips? Or ask them if they are vaccinated? I told them I was vaxxed and they said no action required as long as I had no symptoms. It’s a crappy situation. Wouldn’t have to be this way if crews would just get the vaccine. How nice of you to call me stupid for filling out my vaccine attestation. I know it’s popular for ex-VX on APC to hate all things Alaska, but so far they are simply trying to make the best of a crappy situation. Btw, I’m no lawyer, but a search online shows it is not illegal for a company to ask if you’ve taken the Covid vaccine (in a yes / no format). What lawsuit? I certainly hope none of my dues go to sue this. And if it ends up in a lawsuit, prepare to lose. Judges recently have sided on the side of protecting against Covid. |
...But for all you wannabes make sure your vaccination is on your resume 😉you won't get hired without it. Also are you pregnant? Can they ask that?

Plus as smart as you are ShyGuy, you are missing the message, if you want Alaska to hire you add that you are fully vaccinated against Covid to your resume. |

This the hiring forum or the Covid forum?
If you want to get hired at Alaska, add that you are vaxxed to your resume. It's a huge deal at Alaska. |
