Right, I guess I should re-phrase. I'm saying with the rash of hiring are there any plans to lower requirements i.e. drop the time, no degree, etc?

That's great news for new hires if it's true. Would be nice if those of us who just went through training and spent a couple thousand on housing/car could get reimbursed... but I know that's a pipe dream.

Ain't that the truth! At least our expenses during training are a huge tax write off and the seniority advantage we have is enormous...but I'm with you.

If they've made it to AS with less than 3K its either a well qualified mil pilot or a civilian pilot with golden connections and a lot of luck.

I do know that AS HR representatives sit in on VX interviews and vice versa. I'm sure that during the resume review and interview selection process both parties have a strong say on who and what they think is competitive or not.

I am not sure how this has changed the interview process for AK as far as who gets a call, but it is a fully joint operation for once you get a call. I know it used to take more to get a call at AK than it did at VX but you will have both Virgin and Alaska management throughout the entire interview process now, to make the hiring decisions.

Can anyone else 'in the know' chime in about the June class rumor?
It's great to hear they MIGHT be moving it up a month and just wondering how accurate the rumor may be.
Thanks in advance.

Are there ANY classes for Alaska going on right now? Anyone have an interview as of late!? It seems everyone at VX that's getting hired is slipping in at a good time for a few years down the road when they're finally consolidated...

The most recent class at AS began on 3/13/17. There were two in Jan, two in Feb and one in March. AS conducted interviews in Feb, March and April (last week) so they now have a pretty sizable pool of pilots waiting for classes to begin in July (or June, should that happen) and said pool will probably fill the classes scheduled in July, August and early September, so anyone interviewing later this month and beyond can probably expect a late Sept/early Oct class date at AS. Typically, classes consist of 12 pilots each and the training dept can support 2 classes per month.

Since they have a pretty large pool of pilots with CJOs, I would expect interviewing to really ramp up again in late summer. Oshkosh and OBAP represent excellent opportunities to meet with the recruiting team if this is where you'd like to be. Best of luck!

Thanks for the info, Wynncore! Were the new hires in classes that have already started the 1st quarter of this year from a pool of CJOs from last hiring wave last year or were some just lucky enough / at the top of the stack enough to slide right in fresh off of interviews - if you or anyone whos in class knows!?

Good question, I honestly don't know. I believe those who started class in Jan/Feb 2017 all interviewed in Q3/Q4 2016 and/or very early Q1 2017 and those in the March class were interviewed in Jan 2017. The interview date to class date wait has been approximately 45-60 days due to the background check being pretty time consuming. Your background check, including PRIA, must come back clean/verified before you are officially placed in a class.
