Welcome to a great company! I have only been here just shy of 2 years, but I truly hope this merger will make us an even greater company!

I think the welcoming atmosphere is, and will continue to be, sincere.

Please start a thread for virgin related jokes. :D

Lax sfo and sea. That's a strong fort.

That's a prize pic.

Reminds of those Pipstrel airplanes, the Virus and the Sinus. Totally lost in translation.

This transaction does not feel like a merger of operations. It feels like 80 year old Grandma just hooked up with a teenaged metrosexual and we all know that is not going to last.

VX works at a significant discount to an Alaska pilot. Forget about base pay the other sections of the contract cost huge dollars and VX is not even in off the freeway to the same ballpark.

Plus they have zero LPP and are essentially at will (i.e. no contractual seniority).

I have buds at both and I sincerely hope the best.

Good luck everyone!

None of which matters since they are both ALPA carriers. It's possible the only asset that will remain after the merger is complete are the pilots who will all be on the AS seniority list. The company can do whatever they want to the VA fleet, but they are taking those pilots because that's Union policy.

About as close as you can get to facts around here.

Yeah ... I doubt that. Even ALPA merger policy specifically speaks to Merger of Operations as a trigger for the 'policy'.

But we shall see.

Hope for the best plan for the worst!

Good luck everyone!!!

Your merger is going to be a totally different animal then NWA/DAL, but, here is the final ruling for reference:

Just had a couple weeks off and was wondering why all these 20 something Virgin pilots were laughing and generally in a good mood while I was in SFO airport. Now I get it. They won the jackpot. Almost as good as all those young guys that got on at US before the American merger. Now the average new hire age is about 50. Lucky buggers.
