Are your buses new?

A co-worker said you guys were buying super old (and cheap) 320s for your fleet...any truth to that? that wouldmatch your business model but I thought you were going new?

Thx

You can't possibly be looking to work here, so why the question?

We have a mix of New and super old and every where in between. Allegiant is very opportunistic, and if it can make a deal on an airplane, it will.

This guy is a new hire at Jetblue and he's trolling Allegiant. Impressive.

Guess Frontier never called then?

The brand new 320's just acquired were purchased somewhere between 1/3 to 1/2 the retail price. The rest of the 320s and 319s are preowned.

Thanks skydisaster & KC135 :)

My understanding, the new airplanes are the last positions in the old line prior to Airbus going to an all NEO production line. Hence a good deal was had.

Buying used aircraft isn’t noteworthy. It only appears noteworthy because many think Allegiant is the only airline doing it. Southwest bought 80(ish) used 737’s from around the world in 2015-2016. United bought 25(ish) used A319’s from China in 2016. Delta has been doing it for years. Richard Anderson has said the used aircraft market is part of their fleet plan.

In fact, after our transition to “super old” Airbus, we will have an average fleet age (estimate of 12-13 years old) that is younger than United and Delta.

Was this a serious question?
