Seems a bit surprising that no one has discussed the union letter that came out this morning...considering that the contract was written to benefit the top 20% of seniority, the obvious solution will be ignored.

Everyone talks about solidarity and the like, but when it comes down to it...it really is about the money...

If there were any solidarity here, the LCA's would all turn in their letters.

Agree'd. LCP's (LCA's) need to get together, speak with one voice and say NO. No one else will accept a LCP position.

There IS outrage and a LCA is the one who brought this to the attention of the union and the union is immediately on it but you need to understand that when the company blatantly violates the CBA, the union can not immediately rectify it, and no amount of outrage displayed by the pilot group can correct it.

The union will meet with the company first and try to rectify it the easy way. If that doesn't work, it'll go through the long and ridiculously arduous grievance process.

I am sure the LCA's will make their opinions known as well considering I haven't talked to ONE that wants this because many of them are burning out and wanted reserve on occasion to get a break and can not do that now, as well as the fact that they don't want to step on toes seniority speaking.

None of this perceived lack of outrage has anything to do with the top 20%. No one likes this (except bean counters) and it will not continue indefinitely, but when we have a management that makes unilateral decisions like these, and they always have, we have to deal with it until we can stop it. This behavior is exactly what made this pilot group unionize.

That said, lets be careful not to start pointing the finger at the union or fellow pilots. I saw this a lot in the early days of unionizing; management would do something like this and some guys start thinking its the union's fault. It isn't. The union has to clean up the mess management throws at them literally every single day, and its a lot more time consuming to clean a mess than it is to make one. Have some faith. The union is all we have. If anyone feels the contract is biased or anything of that nature, then by all means volunteer for the next negotiating committee or other position, and make a change. Not much will get done here, never has, other than general info sharing, but that's not enough to really change anything.

I say all this with sincerity guys. We start pointing fingers at each other and management salivates, don't do it.
