Default Work for Allegiant? Any opinions?

Hi, I'm a first time user of this site, currently employed flying an EMB-135. I'm interested in Allegiant for a number of reasons, one of which is the schedule and ability to be home more. I'm considering pursuing Allegiant, and I'd appreciate any honest opinions and recommendations. I've been down the 121 road before, so I'm acquainted with that world. Also, I'd be interested in the OAK base, but I have no idea if that's even an option to a potential new-hire. Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

OAK is closing, so if that's the only reason to come here that answers your question. If you're interested in other bases and like the idea of being home most nights, it would be worth applying and going from there.

September, because they decided isn't needed anymore. All the flying (1 aircraft there, not much going on) can be covered by other bigger bases.

Base closures and no hiring during a huge hiring wave everywhere else. What’s going on over there ?

What's going on is a travel company transitioning from making money with airplanes to making money with hotels and go karts. Unless you live in a large base (LAS, IWA, PGD, PIE, SFB) or want to this is not a good place to come.

Sounds like a solid business strategy.
Correct me if I’m wrong here but it seems Typically you would have to move to the base you are assigned and wait their in hopes that you eventually can hold your desired base.

There is no possible way to commute with the way your schedules are built? For example I want IWA, I may have to live in Florida for a year or two before I can hold a base where I want to live?

Welcome to the forum. All of your questions have been answered hundreds of times before. A search function is available.

But our schedules are not commutable. It is all day trips with ether early AM departures or late PM arrivals. Morning or afternoon shift usually. A new hire here would be given whatever the company has available. Usually they will tell you in the interview but maybe not. Back when we were a growing company and we had vacancy bids every month people could get to their desired base pretty quickly except the senior bases like IWA and BLI. Now we have not hired in a year and a half and are not growing. We are doing two vacancy bids a year and a lot of junior folks are stuck in bases they don't want. Unless you're single and pretty mobile I don't think you could just pick up and move from base to base to base here since you'll need an apartment. That's why I say unless you already live in a base we have this isn't a good choice. Assuming we start hiring soon which right now we are not. Most of the attrition in the last year has been at the bottom of the list too.

Our schedule makes it real hard to commute. As a junior fo, reserve, you'll get one 4-day block of days off a month, the rest is one here, two there...
A year or two to get to IWA? The most junior fo there is an April 2017 hire. As of now you might have to wait forever cause we ain't hiring.
