Base Seniority

There is no “typical” reserve schedule at Allegiant. It will vary by base, time of year, and seniority. It will not be a 4 on 3 off type schedule, that I can guarantee. You'll have some single days on and single days off. During slower months you have a better change of grouping days on and days off together. Busy months will just be built however it best suits the company’s needs.

Off 4 on 3 off. The most retarded schedules you could ever think of. It doesn’t get much better as a line holder.
The schedules are pathetic and the absolute worst part of Allegiant. Que all the “well your home every night” morons who justify this trash. I left
after 2 years. Oh and they announced a base in my hometown where I live. Ask me if I care.

I have to say it is pretty uncommon, but consistency does happen: I'm a junior FO in a fairly senior small base and for pretty much the entire month of December I have Tue-Wed off and Thu-Fri-Sat-Sun-Mon reserve.
Dec is one of the months with reduced number of days off for reserves.

Granted I wasn’t on reserve for more than 4-5 months, this is why I quite after 2 years. 5 on 2 Off, 3 on 1 off, 6 on 2

While I sympathize with some of what he said and do agree that the reserve schedules could certainly be more “normalized” than they currently are, you have to take into account that he commuted the entire time he was here and never actually experienced what it was like to be home based. His opinion might be different if he had, or it might not. Home every night doesn’t mean the same thing to everyone. For some it’s the best quality of life aspect you could ask for. For others it doesn’t mean much and can even be a negative if they prefer to get out of the house every week. Bottom line is do what makes you happy.

Either way I wouldn’t wish commuting here to my worst enemy but outside of the randomness, reserve life is pretty good if you live in base (especially in a small base). Although my friends at UPS do credit 81 hours with 15 days off on their reserve lines.

There is a pretty good spread of randomness here. However, if you want to get blocks of days off, I was able to get a "Tue-Thur off, Fri-Mon on" schedule pretty early. I bid that over block hours etc... It worked out well.
Also, reserve is drastically different in larger vs smaller bases. Reserves in small bases work a couple of times a month. Sometimes a few times in a string of months. Reserves in larger bases work significantly more. With that said, I am in a larger base and the most I worked on a reserve month was six times (including reserve periods picked up on my days off).
YMMV
