I don't think them trying to differentiate and going into the resort business is a bad idea, it will bring more flying into the state in one way or another, which is ultimately good for us... same thing for the family fun centers.
it definitely very much sucks that now it's about the worst time in history for an airline to have any expense other than planes and staff.

For the next town hall when MG goes on and on about the obvious; how bad the airline business is currently. Let’s ask him who’s idea was it to spend millions on undesirable brown water swamp land? And, exactly how much did JR spend on that land? That money is going to have to come out of his pockets not ours.

They’re both Canadian. Air Transat and Sunwing.
Sunwing shares some similarities to Allegiant. They are single type (737) and serve smaller Canadian cities with no competition to seasonal destinations. They own a lot of the hotels and resorts that they feed.

Air Transat is more like TUI or the late Thomas Cook in Europe. Taking people on "holiday". They just got bought out by Air Canada.

So 96 pilots took the ETO (49 CA, 47 FO) and seniority was across the spectrum from super senior to super junior. The union sold this as an optional thing for anyone who doesn't feel like working during a pandemic, but obviously it will save the company money. The question is will it save them enough to make a difference? That's a little under 10% of all pilots. I'm sure it will be more popular in the following months when everyone is on reserve or composite at guarantee. It would be nice if the company would share their plan for taking the bailout or not, instead of emails like TT's the other night that are only intended to spread FUD and set us up for concessions. The real question is if they are going to let FH keep running this company, to their peril. If they stop that nonsense and just resolve to work together with the unionized employees, we have a chance to pull through this and come out stronger than ever. If they keep following the FH union busting agenda and use this as an opportunity to chip away at our pay and benefits, the company is doomed. The decisions they make in the next few weeks will be the deciding factor. I hope they choose wisely.

Sunwing is more like Sun Country than Allegiant. In fact, they're exactly like Sun Country in terms of operations, size, and scope.
