They have alot of nerve doing that but its no surprise from the founder Maurice Gallagher tighter than two coats of paint but yet they had all that money to put their name on the new stadium being built in Vegas, tell them to shove it...

How is their contract structured with regard to their LAS stadium’s naming rights? Looking on line, it looks like it’s a 30 year deal worth about $25 million/year, so $750,000,000 over the full duration. That’s a lot of coin. Can G4 back out of the contract without penalty in order to secure near term cash flow?

If you are thinking about taking some time off and you can afford it, take the ETO. Otherwise, don't.
But if you're willing and able, and you don't take it just because "screw them"... I mean...

Although lots of people taking the ETO won't save anybody from getting furloughed, I do think it will affect the re-hire curve and timeline. The more cash in hand the company has when the lockdown is over and people start thinking about flying again, the more aggressively they can push flying and buying planes. This is my personal opinion.

There was a “we’re in this together” vibe going there for a while that they now seem bent on destroying. And telling 40% of the pilot group they probably won’t have a job in 5 months doesn’t exactly encourage participation.

The union offered them a no interest loan in the form of reduced pay guarantee, with pay back assurances that could have been voted on. That bank was open so to speak. MG said no. Guess things aren’t that bad after all. Speaks to their true intent which is don’t allow this crisis to go un used; Gut the contract. Management has proven they don’t respect or follow the current contract as written nor in spirit.

You can understand wanting to negotiate some of these items but anyone with experience in this industry knows once you suggest that seniority be disregarded, in any form, you WANT to start a nuclear war.....

For those of you looking in, management threatened us that they would furlough 40% of our pilots if they didn't get concessions that include min guarantee reduced from 70 to 45, forgoing seniority in displacements, all pilots to be on reserve from now on, and other draconian measures. All of this would only save the company $25 million dollars and buy them another week or two at most. Shame on them, as the country's most profitable airline, for trying to take advantage of a pandemic to decimate our contract. Their demand is so ridiculous that it's hard to take them seriously. Not even a bankruptcy judge would impose cuts that steep. If things are that bad, they should probably just go ahead and declare bankruptcy now. In a Chapter 11 situation our largest shareholder would stand to lose upwards of 500 million. He also happens to be the CEO. Now that would be shared sacrifice. Management taking short term pay cuts while we give back the farm isn't. This comes after 3.5 years of management wiping their feet with our contract. It seems to me that they already got their concessions and wasted it on a construction project in a swamp. They just burned the last bit of goodwill left in this pilot group. May the odds be ever in your favor.
