Management ask: Furlough 40%, forgo seniority
For those of you looking in, management threatened us that they would furlough 40% of our pilots if they didn't get concessions that include min guarantee reduced from 70 to 45, forgoing seniority in displacements, all pilots to be on reserve from now on, and other draconian measures. All of this would only save the company $25 million dollars and buy them another week or two at most. Shame on them, as the country's most profitable airline, for trying to take advantage of a pandemic to decimate our contract. Their demand is so ridiculous that it's hard to take them seriously. Not even a bankruptcy judge would impose cuts that steep. If things are that bad, they should probably just go ahead and declare bankruptcy now. In a Chapter 11 situation our largest shareholder would stand to lose upwards of 500 million. He also happens to be the CEO. Now that would be shared sacrifice. Management taking short term pay cuts while we give back the farm isn't. This comes after 3.5 years of management wiping their feet with our contract. It seems to me that they already got their concessions and wasted it on a construction project in a swamp. They just burned the last bit of goodwill left in this pilot group. May the odds be ever in your favor.

A little over a month ago I told some friends and fellow G4 pilots that I thought the company might furlough 40% to 50% of the pilots which they thought was crazy. But, as I explained to them, this would effectively close a majority of the small bases since they are generally manned by the bottom half of the list.
Then the company would reconsolidate the operation into 5-7 large bases and just run multi day trips like every other airline. Once a furloughed pilot gets recalled he has to move at his expense to one of the few remaining bases or commute.
After last night’s email and video it looks like this may actually be the plan.

Perfect response by our union leader. GFY. ****ing down our legs and calling it rain. I hope that guy calls in again for the next earnings call and ask how did that swamp work out? Why is JR still here, no more hotel for him to run.
Ya, the micro base system is done. That’s why management wants to trash the contract, the bump and flush is going to be epic. Oh well, gonna follow the contract.

Wow, terribly sorry to be reading this. Seems to me the only response to something so vile from management is to hit them back with something equally outlandish. I wish all of you the best. Truly, I do.
