A large number of leisure flyers are hyper focused on the cheapest fare, good luck UA and WN getting your fares cheaper than ours.

Now if a family is going to be bringing a bunch of bags, then WN might be close enough in price to where the family will book WN. But when the Allegiant ticket costs 30% of the WN ticket, good luck getting people to line up in the cattle call for a couple of free bags. Allegiant's model has been working for a reason. If Allegiant has some rough years it won't be because of the legacies and WN, it will be from Breeze, Frontier and to a lesser extent Avelo.

Exactly. It cracks me up when I see somebody from a Legacy claiming they’re going to somehow take it to LCC’s on leisure routes. Sure, an airline like United with its sheer size and bloated cost structure is going to suddenly make razor thin leisure routes its bread and butter. What could possibly go wrong??

Agreed, you can tell who has taken a look at current CASM/RASM before commenting and who hasn't.
