Not so fast. Flew with a sr capt recently. Had a 190 jump seater. He explained he was probably going to stay on the 190 till they went away. I chimed in and said that's when Parker comes with the crying story that he needs scope relief for a 110 seat aircraft at the regionals, but he will give us a pay raise.
Capts said. I'm all for it....can't wait for that offer to come up.

I'm not sure why you would respond to THAT question in that manner.
I guess it's because you think we should never give up anything. In a way you are correct, we are in a place that we should never give anything of value. But those are hulls are here. We will never get them on the mainline. If we could TRADE the 5 extra seats on hose hulls in exchange for parking most of the 50 seat fleet and greatly expanding the 100 seat fleet on the mainline, wouldn't that be a much better deal over all? Isn't that what the Holt Grail, Delta, did?
Or do we want that flying? I mean, they have a hard time filling the E190 Captain seat, and it's not just pay. Most guys I fly with have a regional background and say they don't want anything to do with it. Heck, it's so junior that even the youngin' Mainline can hold it!
Take a minute to really read and think about what I'm about to write. I'd never tell the company "NO!" I'd say "Sure, we'll look at it." Then I'd study study it and if it didn't make sense I'd say "We just can't do it", or make the cost so high they'd walk away. I think when we draw lines in the sand with this management team we get played. It's the old Br'er Rabbit routine. They get us so wrapped around the axle about things they don't care about that we don't pay attention as they lift our wallet.

So the younger guys constantly harp on old farts, whine about the legacy they're leaving you, completely forget what they've gone through here to keep this place alive, for you to have a place to come to, and you're surprised that they say FU?

Those jobs are coming back to the mainline anyway. Just let it happen.

Sorry, but this isn't about just one airline. This is pattern bargaining and we finally got all the majors' unions to draw the line at the same place, 76 seats. We need to hold that line. Just say, NO!!!

You're on a roll today!! I love it!!
Delta didn't allow bigger RJs. They allowed more 76 seaters while reducing the overall number of RJs. That's a whole lots different than allowing bigger airplanes.
I don't buy the whole "I don't want to fly the 190/ whatever small narrowbody" argument. It goes junior here bc we only have 20 of them so the flying is kind of lames, it's only based in PHL and pay sucks. Throw some in CLT or DFW and have them pay like the 717 pays at Delta ($13/hr more than 12 yr 77/74 FO) and it would go senior quick. It is NOT bc people don't want to fly Regional style schedules.
Now, isn't it time for your nap gramps?!?! 🤣
