The 'No Float' Campaign and its Outcome.
I should probably go to C+R to ask this, but I have most of the ALPA copy paste brigade ignored and I fear that I'd never see any responses...
In regards to the no float strategy, do you think this was a successful campaign and do you think it will accomplish anything meaningful? When the company initially asked for 737 pilots to volunteer to sell back their vacation in April, I thought that we'd really hit on something that would create leverage. So far no further messages have been sent by the company. When I look at reserve lists, it looks like reserves are flying a fair bit, but it doesn't seem like premium is being given any more often.
I know it's still not summer yet and I may be looking for results too soon, but does anyone think this has created any leverage for us? I love the show of unity that most of us exhibited, but I'm curious to what end it will take? Perhaps the smaller vacancy bids this summer are a partial result of the campaign, but does that feel like much of a win?
I wish that there was a bit more communication from the union on what the endgame strategy was and is for this. Does anyone feel like this plan was conceived as a short term, 'we'll show them!' tactic without an eye towards parlaying its effects towards improvements?

They are short beyond belief...and it's only April.
I'm on 737 reserve in NY and most of us either got right up to guarantee with some breaking it...and we still have 5 days left in April. Lots of PM and OG going around.
I think it hit them squarely in the nuts. But they'll never admit it, least of all at the crew news.

I've been "reassigned" 3 times in the last month. One time they took my entire 4 day trip and assigned me another after I signed in at the airport.
Thanks again baby boomers. Way to sell your soul for a raise.
Why even bid trips? We should just bid show times and number of days. They use block holders like mobile reserves.

If you watch the latest crew news I think you'll get your answer from Doug directly. Its the latest video under compensation. The pilots will NOT get a contract amendment before 01Jan2020. Listen to Doug's explanation and get back to it here. Your take on it would be interesting. The "ALPA copy and paste brigade" (I like that!) will just assume the mantle the APA leadership promotes as "stupid pet tricks".

Well I simply cannot believe my ears! The Company just announced a pay bump outside of Section 6. Just when I thought the message was coming forth that Section 6 wouldn't be until 2020. Parker said it last week! Well I'll be dogged! I stand corrected. Must have made more money than Wall Street is predicting.
Any credit to your union for applying pressure?
