Yeah, no kidding. I averaged 6-10 days of flying on the LUS LC system. AAh well, it was good while it lasted.

A friend that is quite a bit junior, no vacation, flew about 8 and 3 transitions to SC.

Takes a little detective work to figure out where you really sit in the order with this system, but being number 2 or 3 LC wasn't a bad deal.
My experience with one week of vacation and LC Rsv for Apr was the exact opposite.
Got transition to SC 3 times and flew 2 of them. Ended working all but 4 RSV days.

Yup, sad to see it go.

I looked at bidding LC for my vacation month. But the threat of transitions and working most of the RSV days made me just bid a line.

As a commuter I'd rather fly 3 four days than be playing the LC game. Especially with the new changes to reserve.

Are you senior or junior on the reserve list? That first week I thought I'd screwed up, but after that I was able to pass.

It isn't bragging FYI, I was trying to make it clear that I am mainly focused on QOL issues, like days off and schedules to make a decision. I wasn't wanting to get dragged into a debate about overall career compensation possibilities at AA vs SWA. Which would make the decision "aa" lot easier for most people and has already been covered in the past on this forum.

What has the more desirable schedules out of MIA if you had to choose? 737 or Airbus? What fleet has the quicker chance of being based back in DFW, 737 or Bus?

Both MIA options still have seperate international divisions doing the Caribbean and S.Am. correct?

Trying to decide on flowing "this year" to AA or taking a job with SWA. Live in DFW. Sick and tired of the AAG management culture after working with them for for so long at Eagle.

I honestly don't care about the more money potential at AA vs SWA, spouse makes way more than I could ever even dream of making as a 777 CA. What I care about is QOL and being home more (not living in hotels and wasting away for 4 days at a time). Prefer short trips, Day trips, 2 day trips or even 3 days are ok. I hate 4 day trips with a passion. Currently intentionally bid Reserve as a CA over any line just to be home 22-25 nights a month. Understand that I would be stuck with 4 day trips again at AA for a while but if it will be for years and years, with mostly only 4 day trips available like what happened at Envoy, then no thanks. I'll go do something else.

SWA seems to do mostly 3 day trips with many more days off and much more effecient with your time at work . Even RSV there is 15 days off! Line holders seem to have between 16-19 off regularly. Can you even get that at AA anymore without being ultra senior?

The lure of wide-body reserve at AA seems like a decent possibility one day, hopefully being home a lot. I have no real desire to ever upgrade again even with 30 years left. Not interested in being the old man in the crashpad being junior all over again on reserve and stuck in commuting hell, wasting away life at that age. I'd rather be an ultra senior FO one day and get good schedules at these FO pay rates.

Movement at AA will obviously be better, but if the schedules are crappy then SWA may still be a better option "for me personally". DAL and not commuting will probably happen WAY quicker at SWA as well.
If your spouse is doing that well, take the job as house frau. Raise children, chase your dream. It doesn't seem as airlines is fulfilling for you.

You're obviously somewhat senior if you're about to flow. The reality is you'll be in the bottom 40 people at AA when you come over. You'll get nothing and you'll enjoy it! (<humor). The first two years will be long. Perhaps commuting for the majority of the time.

Looking the current seniority dispersion in 5 yrs you'll be about 45% of n/b FO's. In ten yrs you'll be at 5%. Both for overall company wide bidding, DFW should be more senior in the past holds true. I doubt you'll have that seniority at SW due to the lower percentage of retirements.

Or in 8-9 yrs you can sit G4 FO reserve in DFW, making the equivalent of 91-94 hrs of G2 FO pay, and hope the phone never rings.
