I think MIA 737 and LGA 320 are split.
I haven’t seen any reduction of 777 in any of the fleet updates. Not saying it won’t happen. Of course long term I’m sure they will replace some.

On CNR (horribly unreliable I know) they say the 777 holds a ton more cargo and believe some routes are going back to a 777. No clue I’m an airways scum who doesn’t fly Boeing’s.....

Combination of D and I divisions will also streamline reserve coverage.

The company does have a few levers it’s pulling.
Simplifying the fleet will help. But those types which get parked will cause about 3,000 pilots initially that will have to go through retraining. That is in addition to the mandatory retirements. You help make my case. We saw with last year’s wave of Mad Dog aircraft parking plugging up the Schoolhouse because of all the retraining, causing a near stoppage of hiring for a couple of months.

New guy here. All this hiring is great but when I see the LCW didnt drop for Sept I think "is that normal in Sept or is that due to the inability to train enough pilots"

I could see us being critically short pilots because those 1000 pilot retirement numbers in a couple of years will hit a little earlier than that because of guys using their sick time and or getting sick before 65. Plus throw in all the training events, it does make a guy wonder what is in store. Beats stagnation though.

Also, the training manager said back in January that they were hiring mid 900's, he was pretty constant all year. It was all the other people chiming in that really didnt know that messed up the predictions. He said back in January they were hiring 40 every 2 weeks with minimal breaks. They have had to up it a little because of no shows. I dont see that ending for a long time.

Domestic vs. International
International requires extra training
All divisions are slowly becoming combined, and in a couple years you won't see the /d or /i any more.

Thanks! What extra training is required for international? Also are all flights outside the US flown by /i pilots or are places like Canada and Mexico flown by /d?

What divisions still need to be combined? Believe they have combined everyone but DFW and those guys don’t think it’s gonna happen.
LGA 737 is split, I think ORD 737 as well.

Canada and Mexico is domestic unless it crosses the Gulf of Mexico(MIA-Mexico).
