Make copies and have them available. It's like having an alternate just in case the weather goes bad.
Your UA buddy said to avoid AA because has no Scope protection? AA only allows 1.25% of hub to hub flying to be regional while UA allows 5%. In the meantime what does he recommend instead of AA? Staying at a regional, or whatever your current job is,
and hoping someone else gives you a job?

I can just hear it now, "honey, don't answer that phone until you check caller ID. It might be American again begging me to fly their jets. I don't know why they keep calling."

“Honey, if you do pick up the phone by accident, and it is American calling, just tell them I am not interested in a rapid progression in seniority and my last several years having the ability to hold a Group 4 CA position flying across one of the ponds for $300 - $400K per year. Tell them I think I will stay at my regional the next three decades, flying 50 people at a time on 6 legs a day, for a fraction of that money.”

Hey can you send that out one more time please.
Seeing how loads of the new hires are flow throughs, there doesn't seem to be much up to date information on the interview process. Besides the PST which you cant study for, is there anything else I should be focusing on?

Pardon my ignorance if this has been discussed somewhere in a thread buried in this forum. However, I'm wondering how likely is it to get a call from AA if you are at a regional, end up spending a few years as a CA at your current regional get some PIC time (lets say it's well above AA's mins) but aren't anything special otherwise. No military, no volunteer (sorry I like enjoying my days off not doing free work), but have a college degree and masters (non aviation related). Trying to decide if staying where I'm at now upgrading and spending a few years as a CA to get a decent amount of PIC would get me a call, or if I should I make my way to the AA regionals for a flow and skip the whole hope for a call and interview stress/uncertainty. This wouldn't be currently, but in maybe a few years when the retirements at AA really take off based on what i see for the projected mandatory retirements.

From what I understand, (take TPIC out of this statement for a second) having a masters is a big plus to the Legacy carriers. Now, having TPIC is a big deal in most peoples opinion. Many on this forum have better ideas how to crack the nut than I do, and I will certainly defer to them. But, if it were me, I’d upgrade to CA as quickly as I can to get TPIC, and with the masters square checked...you’ll be in a very small niche of people, thus, you’d stand out to the “system” that pulls apps. My .02...and my .02 only. Good job thus far!
