Might be because they eliminated all domestic 757/767 flying to LAX. (training, Mechs, parts?). HI would be a one trick pony. Not sure of the PHX op.

AA makes way more money flying weight restricted A321s than it would flying full 757s. A321 NEOs will replace all the current 321s and the 757s from PHX to Hawaii when deliveries start next year for the same reason.

They fly 757s, TO/From PHX.
