An American Airlines pilot was arrested Thursday morning after allegedly assaulting a ground agent at São Paulo International Airport in Brazil
Witnesses say the 59-year-old captain grabbed a female ground agent's neck when the two got into a dispute just before take off
The flight bound for Miami was delayed as the captain was taken into custody
His American passport has been withheld by police
Neither the pilot nor the ground worker he allegedly assaulted have been named
The airline said they are 'taking this incident extremely seriously'
