RDU to CLT Commute
Starting indoc at AA in April. We're North Carolinians and looking to end up at CLT once I can bid it. Currently living in Wilmington, but looking at the Triangle (she went to Carolina, I went to State and we really liked it up there).
Anybody do the drive from RDU to CLT on a regular basis? How's it treating you? Thanks.

I did the commute when I was at GoJet and it’s pretty easy. Lots of flights and mostly Airbus.
The drive is about 2.5hrs and it’s all interstate. Traffic gets backed up coming into Charlotte depending on the time of day. It’d be pushing the limit of short call reserve, depending where exactly you lived.

I’m an AA Jan 17 hire. My wife and I are from Raleigh and I lucked out and was awarded CLT before I finished initial training. Been stuck 9 from the bottom since then though! But I think I may bid SC reserve my entire career....its awesome. We currently live in Apex and I drive 90% of the time. There are a lot of flight options but the last thing I want to do after a trip is sit in CLT for an hour or two when I could be halfway home by the time I board. It rarely saves me commute time flying not to mention canx’d flights, wx delays, and general commute stress.
We are moving to Pittsboro at the end of the year. Chapel Hill/Pittsboro area is ideal if you want to stay close to the triangle but also want to be able to sit short call reserve on your couch. Best job I’ve ever had without a doubt! Congrats!
