ORD Go Around Tues Mar 27 0115 Zulu

The roadway east of the ORD is Route 45 and driving south past the airport tonight saw an AA plane execute a go round just west of the fenceline, seemed not 100 ft above the runway.

Climb out west just fine but wondered what the cause was ... Looked like a 737-800 but not sure. It WAS an unusual sight to see ...

No that rare at ORD. ATC packs planes on final and if someone doesn't clear the runway fast enough the tower has no option but to send the next plane around.

I'm not sure why he didn't just get on his hand held and ask the crew himself. It was probably right there next to his E6B.

I just google it. I'm bad with all the time zone changes, daylight savings or no daylight savings, it makes my head hurt.

Come on guys.....

Quit being so mean.

A low altitude go around probably looks pretty strange to the uninitiated. The non-airline pilot might not realize that we can even do touch and goes. Works great in the sim!
