no, but that would be interesting, considering the recent news regarding the 787s and the cancelled airbus order.

there was a rumor about used 319s a while back, that seems to have died though.

Yes...and heard rumor about frontier 319’s and Alaska Airbus’s. Probably the same guy at water cooler at gsw. We’ll see.

Used 319s is not a rumor. Isom said they are actively looking for used A319s at the moment. He acknowledged a gap in the fleet at the large RJ/small narrowbody range. They like the idea of the flexibility and low costs of operating more 319s instead of bringing on a new type in the 110 seat range. There’s lots of info on jetnet if you watch the videos.

Word on the street is the Frontier deal fell through.

They want everything cheap. If they can’t get the deal they want they will extend out the 80’s or 190’s. Jetnet is corporate positions not what is actually going to happen btw.

They can't train new hires on the 80 past August. It's dead.

My crystal ball says if AA cannot get more A319s, they may be forced to look at CS100s. (Delta has an order in and the 2 European carriers flying them give them rave reviews.)

After all the MD80s go away (and the E190s), there is a need for a plane somewhere between the 737 and the regional 76 seaters.

May not be first choice for type consolidation, but the hand may be forced. I have no vested interest but the videos of the cockpit sure look sweet, and it has the look and feel of a mainline for the PAX. (Kind of reminds me of the old DC-9s in size, but completely clean slate and modern.)

Again, just my opinion, for what it is worth.

I’m not entirely sure what you are saying there but I think I disagree. Just about every move they’ve made has been discussed on Jetnet. The AA corporate strategy is no mystery. You can hear it all on the earnings conference calls and to a lesser degree at crew news sessions. Or you can go on C&R and listen to the endless conspiracy theories and paranoia.

They said they want more JVs and they’ve focused on JVs. They said they want to consolidate widebody fleets to specific hubs and they’ve done that. They said they want to focus on their fortresss hubs and they’ve reduced at airports like JFK while growing PHL. Isom just about a month ago said it was starting to look like replacing the 767s with a big 787 or Airbus order might be more cost effective than refurbishing 767s. Then a month later they announce the order. Vasu said he wants to increase seasonal use of international routes and more of our intl is becoming seasonal. It’s all on crew news...

What? C&R is the cornerstone of logical & rational thinking.
