Default LGA 73 New Guy Schedule

Questions about LGA 73

What are the trips like for a new guy?

Sitting reserve you cover all three NYC airports (LGA\JFK\EWK)

LGA 73 has international trips as well?

Thanks in advance

I was in LGA last year, not a "new guy", but a junior 73 captain, so probably about the same reserve life.

The Domestic and International divisions in NY are still separate. You can bid between them, if there are vacancies. The international is a much smaller division, so they probably don't fly as much (but you can still be used for domestic trips on reserve).

Yes, you will cover all three airports. It seems like the flying I ended up with was mostly JFK and EWR, much less out of LGA.

EWR had at least two trips that reported at 04:00 on the first day. The JFK trips had a little of everything. There was a PHX 3 day slash trip, with an all-nighter home on the last day that always seemed to be in open time.

The flying in NY is good, the crews are great, but having to cover EWR is a PITA. Unfortunately, on the 73 there are only two bases where you won't have to cover three airports (DFW and ORD) and both of them are very senior.

Ok thanks
Just trying to get a feel what my days/nights would be as a new hire 73 guy sitting reserve in NYC.

If you bid for a late RAP (reserve assignment period) on your first day you can commute in day of pretty easy. Your last day of reserve you are automatically released at 10am local base time if you do not have an assignment, so you could take a flight home at 10:15-10:30ish. You can also proffer (request) a trip during your reserve days. They are assigned the day prior in the afternoon. Lots of reserve commuters do this so they know what to plan for.

Awesome. Lots of great info. Thank you
Dumb question: I know no one has a crystal ball here but generally speaking how long to hold a line as a LGA 73 FO?

I spent 1 month on reserve in LGA after OE, held a line ever since.

What about 73 MIA? Do they cover more bases? Also what about Airbus and what bases do they cover in each city?
