So what? Do the job as FM and AOM say to do and if you’re late you’re late.

I don't recall being required to do anything before doing the walk around on a through flight. The manual calls for the preflight safety inspection to be done prior to the walk around if electrical power is not established.

The preflight safety checklist says it's purpose is to prepare the aircraft for electrical power and air conditioning. Aircraft doing a quick turn typically have electrical power established.

If time is that critical you can leave you bags on the secure side of the jet bridge.

If the guy's in the way there are multiple options - push him out of the way, knock him down and drag him out of the way, get in his face and tell him to move it, ask him if he's okay and if he knows his flight is over, go back to the terminal and confirm that you're at the right gate, stand by patiently while he gets his act together, etc, etc.

I never got the whole "too cool for school" thing when guys go slow on purpose, or burn a bunch of extra gas to shave 0:01 off your flight time only taxi at 15 kts, etc. etc.

We get paid well for what we do. If this job wasn't union we'd be making half easy of what we currently get paid and I'd bet my pay check things would run a lot better to boot. Eventually we'll get another wake up call and have to take massive pay cuts. Oh and the guys who say they'll walk if that happens, they will be flying 100 hr months.

How would things run better if we were non-union?

Besides guys rushing and being afraid to say no bc they don’t want to get fired.

Well maybe I am a d!&k, but I am upset with myself if I am not off before the first passenger....and I no longer commuter either.

If it’s an overnight, then I tell the CA “see you at the curb I’ll call the van”.

If it’s the end of a trip, I say “disarmed” standing in the door way and bolt.

If it’s an overnight with airport hotel, like DFW, I say “I am walking over, you ready?” If not, then it’s “I see you at the plane tomorrow...”.

Don’t care. My time is up on the clock and I am not going to wait around for a slow CA who is overly anal about garbage. If they are moving to get off too, then I’ll wait.

If there is a last minute write-up, fine I’ll wait as long as they are getting things done. CA who pittle around....that’s their choice, I am not sitting our waiting for them

My favorite was a CA who took 30 mins to get the van for a 5 min ride on day one. On day 2, with again a 5 min ride.....I texted him
and left for hotel. He said no worries, cause he was trying to......”get lucky with one of the FA’s”. She wanted literally nothing to do with him, but I wasn’t going to wait for his failure to become reality waiting for him anymore.

I pack my bag up as quickly as possible and am ready to roll in short order but then I’m usually the last one off the airplane in case there are any issues. UNLESS.. the outbound crew is chomping to get on, in which case I get my butt off and out of the way.

Had a crew stay in the cockpit with the door closed until everyone was off (*must have been a serious debriefing) and big shout out to the guy who busily wrote up 3 BS things (ie: display should be brighter) while I was waiting for him to move his butt (*without letting MX know) and then shut the plane down to cold, INCLUDING COCKPIT DOME LIGHTS OFF while I was repeatedly telling him we were due out an hour ago. I messaged his FO to ask WTF the deal was...he said flying with him was just about as enjoyable as I would have guessed it was.

Shrug. REAL International may be awesome but my 320I is by far the best job I’ve ever had. I literally love every minute of it.

I actually liked the old A321, 28 hour SFO layovers. Get in around 9, hit the Irish bar up the hill, with a band sometimes, leave at midnight the next day.
