You and the APA NC not being taken seriously
Based on the NC’s blast, the company sent in, what appears to be just above intern level reps, to the first real negotiation. As the NC stated, paraphrasing, they didn’t have a response on any of the items that were discussed and seemed unprepared.
That doesn’t mean to me that we have them right where we want them, rather, it seems like the company was insulting us and the NC. They went in, the company, with a couldn’t care less what you’ll want approach. So what do we need to do....know the contract, fly the contract, write everything up no matter where you are, don’t extend (even if it’s last leg last day go home leg), don’t lean forward (bend over) to help them. They are coming in, day one, disregarding and disrespecting all of us. Poor form |

Not to worry....as soon as Dougie and the boys get a whiff of the gay ass new lanyard, the fear of God will hit them and all will be well.

We've been disrespected, we've been insulted. They didn't bow down to us.
What happened to actually negotiating things. I'd like some detailed background on the NC if they are so high and mighty and know everything. How many airline contract negotiations have they been a part of. How many years on the committee. They sound like 2 year olds. I understand these committees need to drag things out for the sake of steak dinners, but the focus should be on pay, work rules etc... Not on how "intern level" the company negotiators are. In any other situation, if you are super qualified and you are negotiating against an intern you are in HEAVEN! Seriously - if you go to court and opposing counsel is an intern - fantastic. If you play poker and the other folks are all interns learning poker - fantastic. Why doesn't this NC, since they can't negotiate a good deal with "interns" outline just how tough and experienced and hard nosed they want the companies negotiators to be? Maybe they can give up profit sharing to get a tougher group of negotiators to negotiate against so their feelings are not hurt? Then when company offers profit sharing fight them on it? Oh wait, already been done. |
If you took the time to do some research you could get the info you want on the committee members. The NC is solid and prepared. Everybody is frustrated by our current position of industry laggard. But instead of *****ing maybe you could let the guys do their job. Support them by just doing your job and resisting the urge to “lean forward.”
The company is trying to slow roll the process. If you agree to a negotiation timeline and the company sends negotiators who have no authority then they are not acting in good faith. Parker knows he has to pay up. He’s probably hoping he can delay that as long as possible |

Said “interns” that showed up to the table have zero power. No authority. You can’t do a deal with a person that has no authority. It’s a stall tactic/signal by the company and that’s what was being conveyed.
