APA financial accountability

Anyone following what is going on? The recent news is troubling.

Can you point me to the news that I missed?

The amount of information is overwhelming

I guess I'm not in the loop. I check this forum, the 2 main groups on Facebook, and all official APA emails. I'll visit CnR...I try to avoid it if at all possible.

There’s a lot of BS to sift through on C&R, but once you get past that there is some good information on there.

So this is just my understanding of the events

Among all the financial "indiscretions" from the president such as purchasing a first class ticket for his spouse using the union credit card, a member in good standing with over 20 years here (LAA) asked to see financial records that members are entitled to. He was stonewalled and dismissed numerous times and finally filed some sort of legal paperwork to force the issue.

In the meantime things were getting heated and after repeated posts on CnR about the subject his CnR access was revoked by someone at APA. He then sent some sort of email with "threatening" overtones (note, it was a David and Goliath video I believe and the threat was "I'm coming after you"). The APA higher ups way overplayed their bounds and called the police, FBI, and AA corporate security on this member and essentially unleashed the full weight of collective union legal money on him wanting a restraining order issued.

Well, come to find out law enforcement and AA Corp security basically saw it has a nothingburger and have refused to issue a restraining order despite the APA appealing and asking for one a second time.

There have also been several "changes" as the BOD has forced people on the inside investigating this mess out and taken their APA computers.

Pretty f'ed up.

From what I understood, I thought our union Prez not only had the permission from the Sec Treasurer to use those funds but also paid them back fully. So that’s what keeps me questioning all of the uproar.

Did he pay them back after some blowback? And if the plan all along was to pay it out of his own pocket, why have the union front the money? I’m not a hater of the guy, I just have some questions.

And if ANY of this original story is true, we have a HUGE problem within the organization.

Kinda like that $3,600 dinner?

"Oh yeah, we totally were going to pay out of pocket, we just all forgot our credit cards that day so put it on the union card".

Uh huh.

I think what this particular pilot is wondering is if funds are being embezzled or transferred to personal accounts as well. It's not just about spending.
