Sim Instructors
Might anyone have some insight to the pay and benefits for the AA/GSW Sim Instructors?
I have been told a few have been able to get into AA via the schoolhouse. I am a current sim instructor so my AA app doesn’t get much traction due to flying less than 100 hours per year.
Any details would help. Thanks

From what I know from former work colleagues, it would be extremely rare to move to mainline for a sim instructor position. However this is second hand and maybe others have better intel. Another option would be to instruct at a WO regional and have the flow as a backup to trying to get hired on at mainline.

It is rare, because most sim instructors are either retired, dont have a medical, or just like the lifestyle. In CLT the one guy who did apply to move from sim to flight deck made it just fine. Your milage may vary but it seems a way to get a foot in the door.

This seems to be the case at most places, SIM instructors are generally ineligible for line pilot status due to one of the aforementioned reasons so very few are applying.
