Default AA 5 month new hire training?

Asking for a friend. Got the email with a class date (amazing!). Email mentions 5 months of uninterrupted training. Any insight into this? Does this include IOE? Thanks to all, sorry if this seems like a daft question but I come from the world of 135.

I’m guessing that’s the average time from day 1 of indoc thru ground school, sims, IOE, to on the line.

It is realistically probably 2-3 months from start to finish. You will bid on your training slot during training. They may just be saying 5, to cover any complications that may come up (sim malfunction, IOE Scheduling, etc...)

Thank you to both of you. Now during those training evolutions, you get to go home in between for a certain amount of time I assume. What would you say the longest time away from your home would be?

Ground school including systems, IPT, sims:
expect 4 weeks of roughly 5 on, 2 off consistently until completion of type rating ride.

Indoc is 17 days with weekends off. Then you get sent home for 2-3 weeks to do computer based training. Then about 4 weeks of training with 2 days off each week (not necessarily weekends). Then probably 5-6 days of IOE spread across about 2 weeks.

This is a plan not a promise...

My class date was October 30 and my first flight for IOE was Jan 5 with very few delays.
