Default China Service

AAL just returned 14 frequencies from Chicago to China. United and Delta will compete for those slots. We have the most RJs, the weakest international network, and by far the lowest profit margin.

Because they're going into light rail. They have no idea how to manage international operations.

Doug once said that TLV was the best money making flight. Thank God we gave that away and started flying to Quebec City instead. In a CRJ200.

Because American isn't an airline, it's just a ticket broker for Skywest and Oneworld.

didnt AA have an issue serving TLV due to something with how TWA employees in Israel were not paid properly? just something i seem to remember from the time of the merger.

That has been the rumor for years and while there may be some truth to it (Doug keeps denying it) I cant imagine a scenario in which we would give up money making service indefinitely..

Pretty much the story from what I was told. AA didn’t want to operate the TLV after 9/11. They pulled out and due to Israeli labor laws they owed the station personnel a significant separation payment.. Since it was a former TWA station I’m sure AA didn’t think too much about it. AA never payed the compensation as far as I know and so they still have a liability.

As an aside, Vasu said that when AA dropped the US Airways service to TLV that doubly ****ed off the two big Jewish travel companies that handle most of the tour trade in and out of the country. And since a lot of business transactions in Israel are on a personal level those companies took it personally. Lots of bridges have been burned by AA in Israel over the last 15 years.

Watch UAL scoop up those China slots. Kirby loves to stick it to Parker.
