The official policy is that the flight is closed out D-10. Our agents are under pressure from middle management to abide by this. It’s commonly accepted that we don’t wait for late runners. Too many delays by the agents and it’s their job. CA’s will tell them to put the delay on the captain in certain situations. The D-10 has become an intense obsession at AA. It’s misguided and we all know it but it’s their airline to run. In my opinion this is one reason we are where we are.

Im still amazed when I fly with a Crandall fanboy or they post positively about him on “The Line”.

Yes, not to mention Crandall was the architect behind the massive regional outsourcing that we have today. On a smaller give, he is why AA new hires are paid their LOS raise after training completion rather than on their DOH anniversary.

Question about this D-10 bs. Is it true that management gets a bonus at D-10, but not if it is less?

Probably because AA spams you about 3x before you start a movie or show.

So they moved around who everyone is supposed to report to, I guess that qualifies as better maybe.

Fundamental problem right now is the company actually makes money. 20% of all salaried positions could be cut, but who's gonna pitch that unless AA is in the red.
They could put IFE on MCE and see if it sells. If the back of the plane, with no IFE and less seat pitch sells out first, what are they suppose to do other than be on time.
Seems like an entire culture that ALL problems are at the executive level, and NONE fall on front line employees.
Jeff trimmed 2B a year after United merger, AA hasn't trimmed jack.
Low oil and high demand has allowed them to punt on tough choices. AA and USAir are doing better than they have ever done in the past, just under by comparison.
GE froze salaried employee pension benefits, FedEx has been offering early buyouts for salaried positions, tough pill to swallow to have to trim the fat from "your team" who have, "made all this possible".
