Default Moving to DFW Area

Was hoping for some fresh insight from those living in suburbs around DFW. Recommendations for young family and 20 min max drive to airport?
And if anybody has a great realtor that works with AA guys often, please PM me.

We spent three weekends driving around down there. Really the place is so large with so many job centers the question is pretty open ended. If your wife would like to work, and where, would have a bigger impact on where you live vs if it's just you. Also, price point and type/age of home/neighborhood.

You will need some time to explore all the areas. Vast majority of people recommend renting for a year to figure it out. That being said rental prices are well above mortgage payments, so you do tend to waste some money that way.

We live in Trophy Club about 20 minutes from the airport and really good schools. Feel free to PM me and I’ll give you my number, and whatever help my family can provide we will gladly help!

I live in Frisco, north of Dallas, and love it. There are many pilots and other professionals here. Plano, Coppell, Trophy Club, Prosper, and others around here are great, as well. Schools are great.

I agree, you can live in an apartment for a year, get your wife situated, and then decide where you want to buy or build. (Or not, your call.) If your wife is working a M-F workweek, I would think her location would be of a greater bearing than if you drive 20 minutes or 40 minutes each way, once a week.

Commute times vary depending on rush hour or not. Assume you will try to time it to avoid peak times. If you hit rush hour, 20 minutes can become 45-60 minutes, as you would expect. My drive time to DFW parking non rush hour is 20 minutes. They are widening the toll roads all over the metro area.

Incidentally, neighbors less than a mile away from me are the Dallas Cowboys QB and RB.

If you want to go with the flow, Keller seems to be where most FOs are setting up shop these days. That's not an endorsement from me. Just an observation. I would personally go to Denton, but that's a little farther from the airport than you want.

Denton?!? Have you driven through Denton? Only reason to go there is if you want to sell meth on the side while sitting short call.

If the wife didn't work I'd pick TC or Copper Canyon for sure if one could afford it solely on AA salaries (or had bought five years ago!).

Is your 20 minute drive the #1 desire for you and your family or is this just a want? If it’s the #1 thing I get it. There is a lot to choose from for families around DFW but throwing everything out that is more than twenty minutes from the airport will limit you to only a handful of desirable areas. In truth if you expand your horizons a little you can find quite a bit more interesting things for your family.

Please provide your insight on areas to look. I'm happy to be within 45 minutes. Want an active community. Running/hiking/biking/parks. Thanks

North Richland hills. Lots of parks, some trails, good schools, easy commute to DFW. Roughly 25 mins to the airport. You can take side roads or highways to get there. Doesn’t feel too crowded yet and there are plenty of stores. Walmart, target, sprouts, Kroger, etc.
