This would lead to more than 50% of the seniority list at AA being furloughed in the next 30 days. The company would enter bankruptcy and the pay of the remaining pilots would be cut substantially.
With the government taking equity stakes in the airlines, the tax payers will make money off of a "bailout" deal even if it is not repayable loans. After 2001, the government bailout led to the taxpayers making over $300mil from the airlines when the government sold their equity stake.
And yes, everyone agrees AA needs a new Board of Directors and senior leadership.

Taxpayers didn’t make jack. No citizens got dividend checks from that bailout. The state and federal government took that profit right back in the form of added taxes. If it didnt mean so many lost jobs, I hope the bailout gets denied and forces the airlines to reset their business model. Joe the Plumber shouldn’t have to pay for DP and RI poor financial planning during a time of record profits. How about airline unions suspend dues? Mmmm wait can’t, gotta pay for the 2m DC house and lobbying activity. 🤦♂️

Don’t dance in the streets just yet or make that next Brazilian baby momma Porsche payment...your bailout is getting held up by rogue reps in the house. I say “your” because this industry is a joke. I’ve gone on Mil orders and won’t be back. There is no unity at any level in any airline union and hasn’t been for some time. Y’all can keep fighting each over corporate scraps.
If it didn’t mean so many of my friends losing jobs I’d say I hope those greedy sob’s in the headshed don’t get their bailout and all airlines go TU since none of the CEO/CFO’s saved for a company wide rainy day fund. Then the system can get reset and all this “we had to go thru it so you have to go thru” garbage can die. No one controls at what point in history they are born thus no one should be subject to the perpetuation of bad company policy. And not a flow or millennial here. Blue skies all. #GWOTTrapLordz
