Thank you to all who accepted this offer and wish you all a wonderful and healthy retirement. I personally didn’t fly w anyone who took the leave, but seeing all the replies on FB and IG from fellow pilots was heartwarming. Nothing but massive respect to each one of you. During the next event that shakes the world I hope i’m in a position to help fellow pilots as much as you all did.
I know we still might be dropping the Fbomb, but this was one of the greatest things i’ve seen in my 13 year 121 career. Was a great evening sitting by the fire w Makers reading all the replies from everyone. Proud to be a AA pilot.

Haven’t even started flight training, but one day hope to land with AA through a WO even the environment turns around. I’m 37, and hope to one day be in the same position as these guys if I ever need to take an early retirement. Best of luck to you guys and enjoy the retirement.

thanks for your helpful feedback
the hours alone come up to about $175k with 16% override. I rounded up to $200k each, to account for sick bank. That totals $120 million
unless the pilots retiring average much younger than 64.0 years or their average sick bank exceeds 1000 hours, my estimate of 0.1 billion total cost should hold.
A sick bank average of 1500 hours per pilot would net 600 hours ($180k) paid into HSA raising per pilot costs to about $350k and total costs to just over 0.2 billion
