Thanks, great info and copy remarks above on using the commuter clause during probation.

What are the features that make the commuter clause very good?

The good thing about it is it’s simple and fairly ambiguous. There is no required number of flights, no min time required before show time, company metal not required, it counts if your car breaks down or the state closed the highway. There is no limit to how often it can be used. Of course, you don’t get paid, and you may get “counseling” If “abused”...

You will likely only get pummeled for using the commuter clause if you are a habitual user and/or you wait until the last minute to fess up. Once you know you no longer have a chance to make it, call immediately and let them know. Bad news doesn't improve with age

...or if you lie to a Chief. That won't end well either

Otherwise, you're only shorted the pay for the trip missed, and that's it

It is a great way to start a career with them, seeing the loyalty toward their future newhires.

CJO holder here who was told to keep updating my app on the AA site thru 2020.

However, the site has recently been inaccessible in 2021. Does anyone know what is going on?

Any kind of activity is better than nothing in my opinion. Maybe they’re making some “COVID changes” on the app and looking to start interviews again?
