“American’s average estimated second-quarter 2020 cash burn rate is expected to be approximately $70 million per day. As the company’s cost initiatives gain traction, its estimated daily cash burn rate is expected to decline over time to approximately $50 million per day for the month of June. Based on its current forecast, the company expects to have approximately $11 billion of liquidity at the end of the second quarter”

AA has 30,000 more employees then UA.. same June cash burn per day.. hmmm.. I’m thinking Kirby is hitting the bottle as well.

You proved my point . Its bad, really bad and Parker is acting like no big deal. UaL did large displacement to get people to lower paying categories and then wait and see what they need. Cash is king and every penny company can save is crucial. No way AA gets down to 40 m a day anytime soon.

Assuming broadly comparable revenue assumptions, though, UAL stacks up nicely relative to peers at $40-45m (vs. ~$50m for Delta and ~$70m for American (AAL)), and a strong liquidity position to boot.

What you just quoted says AA will be at $50m a day in 3 weeks. Hopefully we all get to $0/day very soon as things open up.

Nope , says 70m as printed.

They said $50/m a day in June on the earnings call last week as well as what someone quoted above...Go look up the transcript if you are inclined. But if that temporary $70m/day average burn makes you feel better about United and what’s going on over there and their approach to overstaffing then that’s cool. Point is in about 3 weeks all 3 will be burning $40-50m/day.

based on Flying101’s quote it looks like AA will have the same daily cash burn next month (potentially of course) as UAL will with AA having more employees so my math says that per person AA is expected to do a better job, hence Kirby’s drinking habit is more costly! Kirby’s drinking is 30,000 times worse than Dougie’s, lol.

No, its a disaster everywhere. But not sure you can read the news or tell what's going on very well but think you are in complete denial. AA is in by far the worst shape of anybody and hope you realize that. Many are forecasting BK. So for you to keep the blinders on and think everything is going to be fine is incredibly naive.
Done and good luck to all.

Part of AA's cash burn is the wholly owned regionals. United and Delta don't have that.

AA doesn't outsource as much ground handling as Delta does with DGS.

AA has the newest fleet, and thus the lease costs associated.

AA is the largest, thus the highest cash burn rate, but also got the most grant money.

You are so right! Just took my blinders off and it looks like AA’s demise is 10X more certain than UAL’s.
