So, a A319 has 128 seats and JetAway and travel planner show that it has 128 seats, but we can only take 108.
I have unfortunately left dozens of paying passengers this week because of this 85% rule. Flights are booked to full, or even oversold, and we still have to remove 15%. I dont think I have taken more than a handful of non-revs in the last 10 days.
The flight deck Jumpseat is separate and is considered a crew member position, so that does not count in the 85%.

With regard to the 85% capacity, would it be easy for two people traveling together to get seats next to each other? I know they are trying to space everyone out, but it seems silly to do so for members of the same household or for people traveling together. I bought tickets but didn't pay extra for assigned seating since it is a short nonstop flight.

3 JS on the 787. 2 in the flight deck, 1 in the flight crew rest bunk that can be occupied as long as the door to the bunk area is latched open during T/O and landing. Domestic only if OAL, as previously stated.
