Go take a look at the Delta forum guys talking about their lower ALV deal. Dudes are delusional. I know APC isn't a good vote "barometer" but if it were strictly APC votes I'd say the Delta "no furloughs for a year in exchange for lower ALV" deal won't pass. Mind boggling.
Yeah I don’t get it. I want ALV’s to be permanently lower. I don’t want mandatory 92 hour months in a couple of years. Most CAs I have flown with are on board especially if they are permanent.

Our current SVP Flt Ops took over right as the Covid ****e was hitting the fan....he was a lateral move from the safety/security side of the house.....not an airline pilot. His first letter to us after the drastic pulldown of schedules and parking of planes was basically a "you f@cking guys" speech....dind't go over well with the pilots!
Back in April, we already had our schedules with some fairly high ALV's, some into the 80's. Mgmt came to us and begged to allow a re-bid with the ALV's cut down to PWA min of 72. They also asked to resurrect the Special Incentive Line (SIL) LOA that had been ka-boshed back in 2018'ish. The LOA didn't have a min SIL in it so ALPA agreed to the re-bid if they would agree to a min 55hr SIL, which they did. Depending on your original ALV, some guys took a 15% hit to their monthly income for April. Then at the 11th hour when the SIL's were supposed to be released so they could be bid for, the company re-negged on the SIL's. The SVP Flt Ops is on video at a town hall(after the fact) saying they didn't feel offering SIL would be "fair" considering all the other workgroups were taking voluntary unpaid leaves. Pilot group felt a fast one had been pulled!
Then the company elects to have the Mother of All Displacements (MOAD) BEFORE offering the Voluntary Early Out Program (VEOP)....again, the SVP Flt Ops is on video saying they did this so that all the pilots would have a clear picture of what their new base/plane options are...but we all know they did it to force some of the older folks into taking an OK VEOP, or be stuck commuting or being forced from left seat to right seat.
Regarding the VEOP, the company's first pitch to ALPA was we give them 15% ALV cut, we get a VEOP....they were tied together. ALPA was able to convince the company that it should be a stand alone plan with no strings attached, which they agreed on.
After the VEOP win which was announced on a Friday afternoon, less than one hour later, SVP Flt Ops sends out an email saying the WARN notices are coming......he couldn't even give us the weekend to enjoy the VEOP. And it was about 93 days prior to 1 Oct, so that email couldn't have waited until Monday.
Oh yeah, the WARN notices only went to the pilots....no other work group at Delta got them (at the time that we did)....that raised a stink eye for a lot of people.
SVP of Flt Ops re-engages on the 15% ALV cut and ALPA initially tells him to pound sand. VP then reverts to negotiating in public by sending us email stating they are offering 15% ALV reduction for 2 years (yes TWO YEARS) of no furlough. The second time he negotiated in public, it was only 1 year. Why the change?
Attached to the "No furlough" promise from Mgmt is a promise that they will "walk back" the MOAD, but "walk back" isn't defined in our PWA, and when our negotiating committee asked for details, Mgmt didn't offer any. Does that mean a full cancel of the MOAD? A re-bid? Would the 777's still be gone? What would happen to CVG (slated to close)? What about the closing of the three 757/767 bases? We (the pilots) honestly have no idea what parts of the MOAD would be "walked back". We know the company can’t actually complete all the training (almost 4,000 events) in the 365 day window so they want to undo parts the MOAD to lessen their own training flail. Our stance is they are the ones that created this training mess by offering a MOAD, they can cancel it on their own…..they don’t need anything from us to stop their training pain.
Oh yeah, regarding the 15% ALV cut, it isn't across the board....SVP Flt Ops said in one of his public negotiation emails that it was basically company discretion per category ("category" in our PWA is defined as base + equipment + seat). So in theory they could cut the NYC 73 guys by 15% but fly the ATL 73 guys to the max PWA allowed.
So when you consider the SVP's first letter to us, throw in the SIL rug being pulled at last second, an undefined "walk back" and the company getting carte blanche to reduced ALV's in categories of their choosing, agreeing to 15% ALV cut to save furloughs isn't quite the cut/dry situation you make it out to be.....to say us pilot have a vote of no confidence in our Flt Ops Leaders right now is an understatement!
Apologies for the thread drift....just wanted to add some background to the discussion.

DAL guy here....I'll try to add a few details...it's not as simple as just 15% ALV to save furloughs.

I'm not at American, but I just had to say, how is that a conspiracy theory when that's exactly what they've done in the past? It's what they do.

Just look at the service onboard planes, water bottles are safe, coke cans are dipped in covid. This pandemic is a perfect scapegoat.

Oh man, there is no place in the real world for that man! People don't want to know that the IFR is around 0.65% or less!! And way way less for those under 70 and without underlying health conditions, come on bro!!! But I do agree its really contiguous and we should wear mask and keep our distance from people the best we can. Thankfully MILLIONS more will lose their jobs and homes then will die from this...
