Bankruptcy Risks Mount for AA
#31
Posters on this board should consider that Doug Parker has messed around with Chapter 11 quite a bit. AWA, US, and AA were all in chapter 11 at one time or another, and he was involved in their emergence. What Doug did was "do a deal" to attract outside money.
Virgin Atlantic is in bankruptcy (chapter 15 I think they call it over there) but as part of the reorganization they will maintain their arrangement with Delta. 51% British and 49% Delta owned. Delta has cash on hand and they will pony up to keep the arrangement.
In the early 90's, Then US Air attempted a link up with British Airways under the same type of arrangement. https://www.latimes.com/archives/la-...469-story.html
Watch for a revival of that deal. It will be done to attract outside financing and with Brexit, BA still retains tremendous route authority all over the world. AA pilots will not want to share international flying but Parker will attempt something like this to save his legacy and avoid another chapter 11 filing.

The way I read it-He's not saying Parker took anyone into Chp 11, but was involved in two major ones coming out.
Parker seems to work best under bad times and deal making. Seems to get bored when things are stable and lets people go off and do things like buy auction rate securities and stock buybacks.

You say “kind of ironic” but you had to add words into what I said to make it kind of ironic. Lol
First of all, I said: “We have pilots who are seriously worried/stressed and while negative articles are all around us right now, posting them does no good.” Show me where I mention only the ones who were good enough were hired in that statement? This is in reference to pilots on the furlough chopping block, as anyone with half a brain would’ve figured I was talking about.
Second, EVERYONE who gets into this industry knows it’s a roller coaster. People who couldn’t hack it wouldn’t make it past IOE. Posting articles that just pile on the doom and gloom isn’t productive, especially articles that have been posted ALREADY on many other sites that OAL guys like yourself and the OP have no access to. Nothing you or anyone else posts here from the news is really news to us. You’re just looking for a reaction from guys (you’re getting one from me) and to try and feel better about your current situation. I get it, your airline is better than everyone else’s. So, I don’t get tied up in knots about our own pilots posting stuff, I DO when you clowns from other airlines, or that don’t work here, come to this forum to crap on AA every chance you get.
But, you got buddies here and wish us the best tho......right??

I for one never posted anything to crap on AA. For some reason you think all other airline folks are out to get you. I'm guessing I've been in this business longer than you have and what you and others need to realize is we are all in this together. Where one carrier goes more than likely we all go. I have never understood pilots wishing harm on their fellow aviators at other carriers. Those folks are short sighted and don't realize rising and falling tides affect us all. I do wish you the best for all our sakes! And yes, both family and friends at AA...

I’m sure this has been mentioned several times, and I know the schedule is still dramatically reduced, but, just flew American this weekend and both flights, one a e175, the other an A321 were completely full...terminal was very crowded as well...

That was when I first experienced being looked at down the nose of AA pilots in that building and no I’m not bitter, I never applied at AA, ever. Just never forgot my first introduction In this business to a bunch of people who didn’t think their crap stunk.
So best of luck to ya but I don’t give a rats ass what happens to your place.

Who cares what you think. I first experienced the warm-ness of AA pilots 25yr ago. The ****ty first job I had rented sims and rooms for training at your Mecca in DFW.
