That’s not quite correct. December 2021 is in reference to the company not taking the Loan portion of Cares 1.0. If the company does not take it then they’ve agreed to not furlough until Dec 2021. A clean extension of the first PSP from Cares 1 ie. Cares 2 would suspend any of the work reductions (MPG decrease) for the duration of the payroll support period.

Yes, and by delaying the first furlough to June 2021, the company has to take into account summer 2022 staffing needs. With the contractual provisions of furlough pay, if the company thinks they will need those pilots summer 2022, "it's cheaper to keep her."

while I do understand your thinking and agree somewhat, the bigger issue in the near term is AA's monthly cash burn. At some point you need to make your business solvent. I believe AA is at this point and no longer able to look to the future in hopes of a recovery that no one is able to predict. In our words what good is planning for a future if you won't be around to see it?...Not what anyone, myself included, wants to hear. We need a serious influx of cash (insert government) or ALOT MORE of us are in serious trouble...Without it I fully expect myself (3,600+ or so from the bottom) to be on the chopping block the next round. Hopefully after Nov 4th (either way) something positive happens. Stay positive, do your job well till the last day, and realize that we are all very capable human beings...we can get through this even though it sucks a big one.

Possible, yes. Does this pilot group want to invest in saving us? Absolutely not.

And when the APA fails to help the soon to be furloughed, it will backfire against them in some fashion down the road.
As much as I don't like ALPA, it's far better than APA. Mission ONE for the junior pilots of AA should be to terminate APA.

Lets look at this from the reverse angle.
Lets say you are back at your previous company and are mid level seniority. Something happens to the economy and furloughs are announced.
How much are you willing to give up to save the guys that might be furloughed?

The corollary is management is the art of telling someone to go to h***, and making sure they are looking forward to the trip. 🤪

APA, ALPA, Teamsters...I don’t think it really matters what you call it, if the same guys are sitting at the table with the same groupthink going on it’s still the same **** (different name though).
