Default American Delay Furloughs?

With a government deal in sight, why doesn’t AA delay furloughs?

I think there is a decent chance that they do by the end of the day.

Question

We can only hope. But, the one thing that concerns me is passenger demand. Back in March, I thought demand would return by the fall/winter. So, the federal stimulus helped the airlines with a 6-month lifeline. Demand is still down, more than 60%. If the feds come up with CARES II, will it really make a difference if demand doesn't return by spring/summer? I don't think any airline can operate 33-35% of their flights and keep 100% of their employees---even SWA or B6 or DAL. Good luck to us all.

They’ve already gave the notice of furlough beginning tomorrow oct 1st. If it does pass today, is that really enough time to contact everyone to come in to work tomorrow?

Yeah but it’s “good debt.” (Sarcasm intended)

take this for its worth...

Isom is on the record saying they’d figure out a way to get people paid if relief money comes, even if the deadline is missed. We are already paying people not to work with mostly government money, what’s one more month? I dunno, everyone gets a VSTLOA for October vs furlough or ZTL...?
