It's his way. Positivity is not his thing. He reminds me of the old grumpy donkey (Eeyore) in Whinny the Poo.
IATA's actual forecast statement, current as of today. the 16th:
IATA's actual forecast statement, current as of today. the 16th:
- IATA’s baseline forecast for 2021 is for a 50.4% improvement on 2020 demand that would bring the industry to 50.6% of 2019 levels. While this view remains unchanged, there is a severe downside risk if more severe travel restrictions in response to new variants persist. Should such a scenario materialize, demand improvement could be limited to just 13% over 2020 levels, leaving the industry at 38% of 2019 levels.

It’s on AAPilots... looks like 25 folks were furloughed December 2. Not a very big recall class! At 25 a month, it would take a long time to get everybody back.
My guess is more information and larger recall groups announced once PSP3 signed into law. It seems it’s a done deal already since it’s in the bill language now, but I’m sure the company will wait until it’s officially official before committing to anything and releasing more information to the pilot group.
It sure would be nice to hear something other than “be glad you’re at home with pay, don’t worry about it...” some of us would greatly appreciate a little more certainty with regard to our future. But, not complaining, things could be way worse. I don’t fault the company at all, as this is a truly unprecedented situation. I just hope we are staffed and ready for the rebound.

This. Air travel within Europe will likely lag domestic recovery in the US just due the fact that they've been on actual lockdowns and the vast majority of flights there are considered international there. For what its worth, domestic travel within China recovered relatively fast after government restrictions were lifted.
