I think before a new hire can hold any base, AA needs to resume hiring

They will start again one of these days. Just sit down and relax. |

We’ll find out when the vacancy results come out. A lot haven’t even been called back yet thanks to the lack of foresight by our fearless “leaders” and our inability to just flick a switch and spool the training department back up to full capacity. It’s gonna be a rough summer for those of us fortunate to not hit the street.
|
They should be about two weeks for results on average. So mid week, next week is likely.

Any idea about PHX? Thanks!
That said, what we do know at the moment comes from the last vacancy (displacement) bid for September of last year: DFW was a December 2019 hire (10 months) PHX was a February 2020 hire (7 months) Keeping in mind that the junior hire class to date was March 2020, until hiring resumes. Prior to last year's upheaval, PHX had been a regular showing in the Indoc drops, and at least in the latter half of 2019 DFW was getting awarded in the first vacancy bid post-Indoc. More to follow next month. Cheers, |

It actually saves the competitor money by lowering the longevity of their workforce.
Paying 50k to train somebody is nothing compared to the difference in longevity pay of a newhire several years junior. |

during normal times I would say no. DFW, PHX, and CLT are the longest wait for a new hire to hold. New hires can expect NYC, PHL, and MIA as the most likely of bases to be assigned out of indoc. Hopefully more clarity to come with the posting of this vacancy award, but without a traditional flow of new hires it still maybe tough to determine.
ORD is senior and stagnant (shrinking?) and hasn’t gone to new hires in years. I don’t expect that to change. Dunno if DFW or CLT will ever go to new hires. That being said, all domiciles have been available within a year or two after Indoc, pre-COVID. |
Just announced AA hiring 300 this fall and 600 pilots next year.

It's finally happening

Anyone
Does anyone have a guess at the possible timeline for CJOs? Asking for a friend (me, I’m asking for me)
|
last AA pilots are returning to active flying in August, so I bet the CJOs being honored will be "recalled" in later August or September.
They will contact CJOs shortly with whatever timeline they can provide. |

Awesome
Thanks everyone.

It said that cjos should expect to hear from recruitment very soon with information on the next steps. I’m guessing you’ll be in class around Sept. Welcome aboard.

Great news!! I’m a poolie and I can’t wait to be aboard!

How will this work with flow throughs? Meet the contractual limit for flows and then the rest of the class will be OTS? One class per month flows and the other OTS? I presume with 300 by the end of the year it won't be purely flows.
I’m glad my prediction on hiring was wrong |

Different language for different regionals but it’ll be a mix of ots and flow.

Right but I'm curious how this is gonna work out with the different contractual obligations. PDT flows 6 a month, do you know what PSA and ENY flow? TIA
Look at the language again, it’s probably a max of 6, not 6 guaranteed. I believe everybody gets a percentage of each class, not a hard minimum. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk |

For PDT it’s 6/mo (at the moment) or 25% of AA new hires whichever is less.

I’m pretty sure PSA is 10 per month. Pre-COVID it was 5 each class.
I think Envoy is 1% of their seniority list. |
Does anyone know, (or have a reasonably accurate guess), as to when the August vacancy bid awards will be announced?

4:59 pm central time on Friday is my guess.......I just don’t know which Friday
|
PSA is the lesser of ten or 25% of new pilot positions in a given month.
It works out to be substantially less than ENY or PDT on a percentage basis. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk |
Envoy is 20 per month for the next 6 months or so of hiring. It shifts to a smaller, percentage based number after that.

I have heard AA is hiring to their JetBlue operation.

Close. JetBlue is hiring to it's American operation, which will largely be a domestic only carrier. |

Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk The group after is a formula that involves the size of Envoy's seniority list. Pre-COVID that was going to be around 21 or so I believe. But Envoy is smaller now but I don't know how much smaller. I'm guessing it will be less than 20 per month. |
