Zoom video interview

Hi Has anyone taken the Administrative video interview? It’s done via Zoom and it’s a one-on-one interview with a team member from Pilot Recruitment & Development What questions do they ask, what they are looking for, that sort of thing.

Also wondering what the video interview will entail. Previously there were 3 questions for the recorded video interview: high level overview of your flying career, why American, and why do you think you'll be a good fit? I'd imagine something similar but I think we're in uncharted airspace right now.

Have heard of a couple people getting the zoom/video interviews already. Good luck to everyone!

Yeah that is great news. Hope everyone gets an offer and will be curious to hear what everyone's experience was like.

Does anyone know if they still prefer a blank wall behind you during the video interview? I've had a few friends who got jobs there (pre-covid) and it was one of their recommendations.

Definitely blank wall, or of course a Farrah Fawcett/Kelly Kapowski (depending on your age demographic) poster.

The questions that I heard from a reliable source were these:
Is your current employment accurate on your application? Are you actively interviewing with another airline? What are your available dates for person to person interview? Set up slot for in-person interview and asked if transportation or hotel was needed. Separate email sent to fulfill this. Introduce yourself and give a quick rundown of your aviation career.

Question 1: Have you ever beern removed from flying status, involuntarily or voluntarily, or failed a checkride?
Question 2: communicate in layman's terms the steps you would take if wx was at your destination (DFW) and you were directed to hold at LIT for an hour.
Question 3: tell me about a conflict you recently had at your job.
Question 4: why American?

Also, 20 minutes and very friendly. The "reliable source" has an interview scheduled in-person next week.

I have also heard there are other questions out there, different scenarios, but all very non-threatening.

In addition, I also heard that the in-person would be with a CA and FO and would be a little more technical than the HR portion (obviously). Names redacted to protect the innocent.

Sorry if this was addressed elsewhere, but does anyone have an idea as to how long it is between finishing your online profile/skills test and being asked to do the zoom interview? Thanks!

No one “new” has made it to that step. As far as I can tell, they just started video interviews and only with people who had interviews scheduled pre-COVID. Still playing catch-up.

That being said, there’s not gonna be a predictable timeline. Getting the video interview is stage 2 of application, meaning your file has been picked and passed the first step. If your ticket hasn’t been called yet, you won’t get that email.

No one has been called yet.

Those that got the zoom interview had previously completed the pilot skills test (PST) at WIA over a year ago. No one else has been called.

AA hiring is way behind right now. Especially when they have to fire a couple hundred pilots in November for not getting the shot.
