I think the more troubling part is they took off without knowing the possible damage that was done to their aircraft.

Yeah they should have aborted obviously. That’s the responsibility of the PIC who’s hands are holding the thrust levers for good reason, not “they”. It was an honest mistake by the crew, but handled poorly. Reading the comments on YouTube, it seems that specific runway has an initial downslope that sets you up for failure.

An aborted takeoff around maybe 40 knots is nothing, very safe “maneuver”. You clip some lights at 100 knots, then maybe I could make an argument to continue and figure it out in the air, but clipping lights at the beginning of takeoff roll and continuing is not good.

You guys are like children with this stuff. This is the reason we’re not going to be one unified group until all these guys retire.

For the record, the five worst guys I’ve ever flown with were on their high horse about their “superior” aviation background prior to AA - and they were not from the same background.

He's just trolling, or perhaps a tongue in cheek comment. He's not one of us.

AA has a lot of big head ego pilots. You don't hear about it near as much from Delta or United. Wonder why that is.

Tongue firmly in cheek.
Just wanted to point out you can't categorize pilots based on their background.
