It's pretty poor character to just no show when a simple email a few days prior to class could have given another pilot a chance at having an earlier start date.

And very poor professionalism.....Yes indeed, it's pretty much the definition of burning bridges.....

Pretty sure no one is just "no-showing" class. But the airlines usually won't try to fill an open class seat with less than a weeks notice. So telling an airline a few days prior that you aren't coming really isn't helping anyone.

Still waiting on class dates too. They have been sending them out a month out and we are 3 weeks out and still nothing about the 3 Nov class dates.

They are way behind and trying to catch up. AA has hired an outside contracting firm to help them hire recruiting/hiring staff. Pretty much the entire department was cut during Covid, and now they are rebuilding it from the ground up.

You will get the call.

I may have explained it poorly. I was told there are pilots that were expected to be in a class not come to that class. I would guess most notified AA. It was explained that others are “poaching” those guys.

why go to AA when UAL hiring 200 month and upgrade less than 2 years and 777 for new hires??

Is too bad AA waited so long to get new classes going when DL and UA had classes going months earlier. Hopefully they'll be more proactive going forward and offer a contract that will want people at AA over the others.

To put a little perspective on AA hiring waiting so long. With all the furloughees being brought back and requalified, there was no room in the schoolhouse (in the simulators) until Labor Day. Wanting to hire, needing to hire does not make it so when they would have to sit at home cooling their heels. Sweet to get paid while sitting at home, but would not get pilots trained any faster.

They absolutely were running classes. The classes were full with furlough returns.
