Pretty sure no one is just "no-showing" class. But the airlines usually won't try to fill an open class seat with less than a weeks notice. So telling an airline a few days prior that you aren't coming really isn't helping anyone.

You will get the call.

I may have explained it poorly. I was told there are pilots that were expected to be in a class not come to that class. I would guess most notified AA. It was explained that others are “poaching” those guys.

To put a little perspective on AA hiring waiting so long. With all the furloughees being brought back and requalified, there was no room in the schoolhouse (in the simulators) until Labor Day. Wanting to hire, needing to hire does not make it so when they would have to sit at home cooling their heels. Sweet to get paid while sitting at home, but would not get pilots trained any faster.

They absolutely were running classes. The classes were full with furlough returns.
